Jane Palfreyman birth c1861

I’m hoping someone can help me solve this mystery!

Jane Palfreyman (also seen as Palfermone)
Born c 1861

She has her place of birth on census listed as Cornwall.
1911 census she has it as “resident bodminland Cornwall” and her fathers birthplace as Durham.

She married John A Hudson. In 1881, portsea Hampshire, and they lived in the Channel Islands.

That’s all I know, and would really like to crack this but of my great nans tree.

Please can you be a bit more specific about her entries in all the post-marriage censuses (1891, 1901, 1911 and possibly also 1881 depending on the precise marriage date) and where in the Channel Islands they were?

If the mystery is the identity of her parents, have you considered ordering the 1881 marriage certificate from the GRO, for paternal & witness details?

I can’t find Jane on 1861/1871/1881 census’

That’s all the info I have. It’s the Hudson side I’m tracing but Nan said she would have liked to know where both  her grandparents came from, it’s just difficult when she doesn’t know anything about them 😔

How great that the 1911 Channel Islands census gives you everyone’s father’s birthplace as well as their own!  I was not aware of that.

Have you looked for Palfreyman (and variants) individuals in earlier censuses with a birthplace of Hylton, Durham?

I can't find a birth either, so suspect she was born under a different surname.

I have suspicion her father (or step father?) could be Robert Palfreyman b Hylton c1841. On 1861 he's a ship's carpenter, single, on the Donegat moored in Hamoaze, Cornwall. Says he's single, b Cumberland
