Just gone back to FindMyPast after a long absence to see if they have any additional information for some problematic relationships on Ancestry. I haven't got a current subscription and, considering the way that I have exhausted most lines of enquiry would rather use pay as you go. However, despite credits still be quoted as a payment option in the help files when you follow the "buy credits" link you only get full subscriptions.

You can still buy credits they are at the very bottom of the subscribe page.

That's the good news, the bad news is the price has gone up, an extra £2 for 60 credits
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

Hi Peter

I recently had exactly the same problem, and after going round in circles for ages trying to find how to get credits, I emailed the Help section.  They reluctantly sent me a link to order credits, but I decided it was cheaper to get a one month sub. and take it from there.

I'm still unable to sign in, I haven't been using FindMyPast that much recently, but can never sign in when I try.

Have just sent msg asking why I'm paying a subscription when I can't sign in, all I get is a white screen with 'cannot post/sign in' in top corner.

Fed up with them!

FindMyPast is running OK for me. Pity that may FindMyPast Friday's seem to be records from America or Australia instead of here in the UK. And a lot of the UK records are indexes or the marriage transcripts for post 1754 seem to be from Bishops Transcripts (usually just a name and date of marriage) instead of the original parish registers which give witnesses etc. To me that is not good enough. Why not do 1754 onwards marriages from the original PR's instead of BT's? They dont realise how much of a lifeline witness names are. On the odd occasion there may be a page of 1754-onwards marriages missing but usually I found this is quite rare. Off my soapbox now.

Do you get this screen up, Lisa?  I've written over my e-mail etc. in red!

I've tried to make all kinds of errors signing in but it doesn't give me what you're describing. What browser are you using?

Maybe you could try another browser, just in case. I'm still a boring old Firefox user  :)
