What you have quoted there,  would mean that the ship's captain and/or owner was C. McLeod.   It is not the name of the ship.

According to image of passengers on Ancestry.com.au, only 2 on ship "Asiatic" June 1857, neither of them yours.

Thanks to all for your input. I think I just have to accept that there is no passenger list.

Even so, the newspaper articles are useful to fill in the story and the references provided are much appreciated.
