If they were both living in Cambridge in 1841 - check the 1841 census for the ecclesiastical parish they were living in which may help with which church they married in

You haven’t given the details of the GRO registration, but if you plug them into Marriage Locator you may get an answer:

I put them in but no luck  :'( thanks anyway. It's in English Marriages on FamilySearch but no church is listed.

The entry on Family Search for this marriages gives the microfilm number 1,040,430 (you can see this in the section marked 'Citing this record'.) The correct number would be 1040430 i.e. no commas.

Citing this Record
"England Marriages, 1538–1973 ," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:N63Y-D5S : 9 March 2018), James Scarr and Eliza Stacker, 16 Apr 1843; citing Cambridge, England, reference , index based upon data collected by the Genealogical Society of Utah, Salt Lake City; FHL microfilm 1,040,430.

I explained to you how to use this number a few days ago http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=794871.msg6515148#msg6515148  :)

I'll have to note that down. It must have slipped my mind before. Thanks.

Edited: I've bookmarked it so I think I've got the hang of it now  :)

I did say ‘Bookmark it now’  ;D. It’s a bit frustrating when you’ve given advice on how to find something and it’s already been forgotten!

Yes, sorry about that  ::) I'm quite slow, much to the frustration of most who know me.
