Thank you very much everyone. I was able to see that a lot of men both young and old had the position of "car driver" form both the 1901 and 1910 Census link that Hallmark provided. Some said mail car driver and one said car proprietor. I will have to accept that my Thomas Graham was a delivery man of some sorts, and not the Coachman like the other Thomas Graham on Glasslough Street. Once again everyone is so kind with the offers of help and advice. I really appreciate this!!

Cheers.

Susan

This is what Monaghan town centre looked like a few years later in (c.) 1917, Glaslough Street was/is the street emerging into the Diamond from the right, :

I think that I agree with Hallmark when saying probably Jaunting cars. Not sure how big the Town of Monaghan was in the early 1900's, but with the large amount of "car drivers" from the Census that Hallmark provided for me, I can't see that may motorized cars on the road for a small town during those times.  The picture of the town I wasn't able to view at this time.

Again thank you to everyone for your help and opinions.

Cheers.

According to Wikipedia a jaunting car was typical conveyance for persons in Ireland at one time. There were 3 kinds: "outside car", "inside car" and "covered car".
Wiki article has 3 illustrations of jaunting cars 1890-1901. One is a photo of a line of them in Drogheda.  Another is a postcard, apparently from someone holidaying in Ireland: "Hope you like our Irish Car".
