NLI coverage of available registers isn't 100%, note that the RootsIreland website has a number of transcribed 1830s/1840s baptisms for Kiltoghert parish for whom I think may be one couple variously recorded as Cornelius/Connor Lannon and Margaret/Mary Shanly, including a son Cornelius in 1837 and a son Conor in 1840.

Kiltoghart

So RootsIreland website has a number of transcribed 1830s/1840s baptisms for Kiltoghert parish from an unknown copy of records??

There can exist several parish registers covering years within the same overall time period, you can see this yourself from what the NLI has made available online.  On occasions however, NLI doesn't always have online all of the available registers (eg. perhaps a register held by a church).

Hi,
By searching the Tithe records using the Parish name of Kiltoghert and Lenn* …...there are 2 Lennon's listed.
Anna Lennon in the townland of Cunohashell
and
Pat Lennon in Kiltoghart (townland) Kiltoghert in County Leitrim
This was in 1834.

There is also a spelling Leneghan.

In 1856 there is a Connor Lannan in the townland of KILMADDAROE, same Parish
And a Michael Lannan in the townland of Fawn same Parish
Keep digging …..
Maggsie

Yes, I've crossed paths with Connor Lannen a few times in Kiltoghert Parish records recently.

In the petty sessions it describes a May 6th, 1855 event in which Peter Shanly of Kilmaddaroe accused Michael and Cornelius Lannen (from the neighboring village Clogher) of assaulting him, and Michael in turn accused Peter of assaulting him. The charge against 14 year old Cornelius was dismissed. Michael Lannen and Peter Shanly each had to pay a 5£ fine and "keep the peace" for 6 months.
I can only guess at the reasons behind the dispute, but I find it interesting that Connor Lannen can be seen via Griffith's as a neighbor of Peter Shanly's in Kilmaddaroe in 1851. The two of them had a legal dispute also! Cornelius would only have been 10 in 1851. Perhaps Connor was the father, uncle, or even grandfather of Michael and Cornelius Lannen. Hard to say.
