Thanks Hallmark

I guess that is possible however on all the documentation I have she has been called Hannah.

Are you thinking that there is a chance that the J in the baptismal entry might  stand for Joannah?
It certainly is worth keeping an open mind on that prospect.

It is something to consider!

Thanks Hallmark for the Baptismal record.

Does anyone think that I should now move this thread to the United States forum?

If so how do I go about it?

James P Ross Snr was born in Antrim Ireland in 1715, he married Mary Woods in Ireland 1740 and migrated with her and their children to the United States sometime after 1744. He died in Rowan County, North Carolina in 1788.
I have many dna matches to the Ross family which I ran past the DNA forum, they consider that the matches are most likely true (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=796514.0).
It was also suggested that the results may imply an extra marital connection.
Looking back in Ireland I have found a Robert Ross Rowan whose parents were Andrew Rowan (b 1693) and  Margaret Stewart (b1700). Robert appears to be the right generation of a potential offspring of James Ross.
I have also found a dna match to Andrew and Margaret Stewart.
I have searched for information on Robert Ross Rowan but all the family trees seem to be a bit confused and short of information.
In light of the above I would very much appreciate any information, comments or help on details of Robert Ross Rowan, bearing in mind that my direct relative is Patrick Rowan who was born a few generations later.
Thanks buckyb
