Thank you Forfarian. That's a really helpful suggestion which I'll take up when I'm next back in Scotland. The Kirk Session's eradication programme seems to have been less than successful - definitely a work in progress!

Out of interest I had a look at Jessie’s marriage to Thomas Campbell in 1877.No father named, mother Agnes Sharp, a Laundress. One of the witnesses was a Mary Sharp. Possibly her sister as this was the year before Mary married in Ireland.
