Had 5 children
Spencer walter 1881-1900 died aged 18 in Exeter

1911 Was a licensed victualler married to Emily b 1884

According to the book
Spencer CHAPLIN and Ellen Eliza had 7 children and Charles was the 5th child and 3Rd son

BUT


Here is Spencer as a widower in 1881 with 2 boys and 2 girls born after  Charles

Am not finding these children in 1871   but getting distracted  from my goal of looking for Alfred John/ James Chaplin s connection

In 1881 Spencer William Tunstill Chaplin age 25   and his brother Charles are running  a pub in Battersea

I think I should have 2 separate  threads before maybe the Fulham cab drivers are not related to Charlie s Chaplin

But have know been informed  that aunt ivy and Joan are correct

Also their father Alfred Thomas Chaplin b 1888 did something  that the family don't talk about and left them ...so another mystery to be solved .

Alfred Thomas  was at 17 pellant road in Fullham
With his mother Eliza b 1862
He was married
But

Caroline Ann CHAPLIN b 24 Mar 1892
Unpaid domestic duties was with  childrem Ivy C/ Eric A and someone else

Alfred Thomas died aged 75 in 1964 Chelsea   his son attended funeral

Caroline died 1893  age 99

So getting nearer to finding  the mutual patriarch
