Labour Corps

Just discovered my Great-Uncle listed as a Corporal in the Labour Card on the Medal Roll however, on his marriage certificate he is listed as "Officer's Servant." His Regimental No. is given as 344115 but I have been unable to trace him further.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be very welcome.

If you look at the Medal Card Entry on the National Archives site it would appear that he started off as soldier number 344115 in the Labour Corps, then became soldier number 27303 in the West Riding Regiment, then soldier number 609861 in the 18th London Regiment, so he may well have been an Officer's Servant when he married.

Many thanks for that. I confess that I hadn't understood the significance of the other entries and am pursuing them even as I write!

Unusual to see a man going from the LC to an Infantry Batt. so probably moved around with the Officer.
13/WRR suffered a outbreak of fever & measles May/June 1918 & the Officers & men were dropping like flies. So looks like a temporary movement while they recover.
At the end of July when he moved back to the LC the 13/WRR received a large intake of Officers & men so no longer needed.
