John Darling / Catherine Wallace

My direct ancestor John Darling , born circa 1774.  I have searched for ages to find death details for him and wife Catherine.
A source with myheritage.com claims they died in Delaware, New York circa 1844 / 1853.    I am not convinced, Can anyone find their deaths in Berwickshire,   
Confusion arises due to another John Darling marrying a Catherine Smith around the same time,

Is he on the 1841/51 census?  If not - where did you get his birth year from?

Can you please post details of when their last child was born & whether you have John & Catherine on at least the 1841 census?

Deaths pre statutory records are minimal, seldom recorded but you may be lucky & find MIs in the local graveyard?

Hi both.  The only info I can find is on Family Search as follows:-
John Darling born 1774 Scotland (parents Robert Darling / Elizabeth Clark)    Death 22/12/1844 Delhi Delaware USA
No census entries.  Can't find marriage.
Catherine Wallace (spelt Katherine) 27th April 1774 Hutton  Death 5th Nov 1853 Newcastle Delaware USA
Their daughter Janet Darling born 25 Sept 1803 at Edrom is my direct ancestor.

There is an 1851 census entry for a John Darling born 1774 Scotland but he is living in Liverpool and his wife is Ann.  This suggests there is more than one John Darling born 1774
