Can anyone read which Street this one is in Llansamlet Lower 1874
« on: Thursday 28 June 18 13:20 BST (UK) »
Hi there

My great-gran was born in 1874 and the family were living in Llansamlet Lower, however, I can't work out what else it says regards an address so would appreciate any help or suggestions please.

I can see it says Pentre- but I'm lost after that..

Cheers
Lynda

Looking as street names on the 1881 census for the settlement there is a Pentrefynon Fadog  or Pentrefynonfadog   :-\

Hello  looked on Genuki for old maps plus info
There are two options    Pentre-gaseg  or Pentrechwyth.
Pentre if the welsh name for  village
Hope this helps

I agree with Kay.

It's written Pentre funon fatog but is most likely to be Pentre fynon fadog.  On an old map it's around here (see Tir ffynon Fadog):

Wouldn't it be possible to be told who we are talking about then the family may still be living there?

Llansamlet Lower consists of 3x districts in 1881 census
The front pages for each show a number of possibilities over and above thos mentioned already

District 5

District 6

District 7

Thanks to all :-)

I'm more than happy to accept the suggestion given as after pouring over the cert again, the option very definitely fits.

Many thanks to everyone again :-)

Cheers!
