Myer Bebarfald
« on: Friday 29 June 18 04:45 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find the grave for a Myer Bebarfald. he was born in Prussia Wreshin  Poland in 1795  and emigrated to England before 1853 with his family.  Myer became  a naturalized British subject on 20th July 1853 . The 1851 census has  him and his family living in Middlesex London . He died in London 4th August 1859 and I am trying to find his grave which is somewhere in this area. Any help to point me in the right direction to find this  would be welcome .  ???

In case you don't have it, his probate is here

https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/Calendar?surname=Bebarfeld&yearOfDeath=1860&page=3#calendar

So the chances are he'd been buried close to where he'd lived.

Was Myer an Ashkenazi Jew? There were several Jewish cemeteries in East London.

Hi Nanny Jan, I can not tell you if Myer was Ashkenazi at all .
I am doing his family tree and it is a very interesting one for a cousin  who knows nothing about the Bebarfald side at all . Most took the name up of Jackson which was a middle name round WW1 and have cousins  now that have changed their name from Jackson back to Bebarfald by deed polls . I have the family back to the early 1700's using the name (Bebarfald then  ) to the present time but wanted to add some grave photos if I could of got them. I have looked at a lot of english sites and cant find anything but will google Jewish cemeteries and see what comes up.  I can find NZ and Australia ones very easy by googling the councils in the areas and they have cemetery search's but to find these in the UK is not as straight forward as our systems, But will try again starting with your suggestion and see how I go. Thanks for your suggestion.
cheers

His name, occupation and birthplace could mean he was Ashkenazi. Unfortunately some Jewish cemeteries in that part of London have been lost; have you contacted JewishGen for possible burial places for him? They may be able to suggest where possible records might be held.

Funny you should mention this site as was just having a quick look and see the JewishGen site .so when I get some spare time later will definitely check that out. I also see Million graves search  there so will see if some thing shows up with that as well ...must get lucky sometime.
