Butler Tinsey
« on: Friday 29 June 18 15:05 BST (UK) »
Afternoon Rootschatters,

I'm stuck at Butler TINSEY dob 1720, Hagbourne Berkshire.   Butler died 18/12/1801 Sutton Courtney, Berkshire from a cold...

If anyone can help get a back to the next generation I'd be delighted...

Many Thanks :)

I'm wondering if 1720 is too far back to query?

It might be worth contacting the county archives to ask about Parish Registers for Hagbourne.

Hi Tab11,

The OxfordshireFHS have issued CDs with records of  parishes which are now in Oxfordshire, previously in Berks.
Their address is; https://www.ofhs.org.uk
Hagbourne is on a CD OXF-WAL02 which contains Hagbourne but I can't find a Butler Tinsey in the baptisms in Hagbourne.
In the Sutton Courtney records I did find a Butler Tinsey bapt. 8-11-1761 s/o Butler & Elizabeth, presumably this where you got Butler Tinsey's birth year from, but where did you find reference to Hagbourne?

Hi ribbo39,

Thank you for looking into Butler Tinsey for me, much appreciated.

My tree goes from Butler Tinsey 1720 -1801/Elizabeth Garlick 1729 - 1811.... Then onto William Tinsey 1754 - 1830/Hannah.  The Butler you mentioned is William's brother 1761.  Then Butler Tinsey 1804 - 1865/Elizabeth Arundell 1808 - 1865 and then my ggrandmother Charlotte Tinsey 1834. You asked me about Hagbourne, the answer is I can't remember as it's a record I've held for a number of years but I wouldn't swear that it's gospel.  If you were to notice another Butler Tinsey born in 1720 in Berkshire I would think it was a strong possibility.

Thanks again Tab11
