Ancestry.ca free access weekend?
« on: Saturday 30 June 18 10:34 BST (UK) »
According to Peter Calver's latest LostCousins newsletter, Ancestry.ca (Canada) are doing free access this weekend but it doesn't seem to be working for me (in UK with .co.uk sub and using .ca login created some time back).  Anyone else running into problems?

Jane :-)

Logged in using the same user name and password as ancestry.co.uk. Seems to work for me.

Just tried a different browser and got a different home page, including a banner concerning the free access (didn't get that previously).  Seems to be censuses only (I was hoping for immigration records) which explains why, when I searched the datasets I'm interested in, I got directed to a subscription page.

So problem solved, thanks Hinso.

Don't think I've ever come across so many transcription errors, even at Ancestry which is renown for them.  Do they never learn?

I believe 'Fancestry' use OCR - Optical Character Recognition i.e. not transcribed by humans?

Not transcribed by humans: I quite believe that, but assumed it's trained monkeys.
