The first column might read 'William Thedling' - or something similar.  It doesn't look like an 'S' which is quite different and clear in  'Sydney' further along.

I wondered if first column was a ship. (It’s a steamer judging by second column where it says “put on board steamer”.  Anyway, ship is the William J something

And is that age at which married (28]. And to whom, ( Eliza Ruth Wickham)?

sorry just read your post - I can't see the  'J'  but the next column says put on board the steamer Governor Blackall - I think   so what does that make the first column?

Is it possible to post a link to the page in question please as it looks like a map gone wild with no indication to what's what/where in terms of being able to piece it together to make any sense?

Sometimes we need to be able to read it like a story rather than trying to guess with no info. attached to what we're looking at  ;D

You see Elizabeth and I see Eliza Ruth.  I concede it could be Elizabeth but the ‘b’ looks too large which is why I went for Ruth.

Good idea as I'm getting 'sea sick' with to-ing/fro-ing, going dizzy, getting nowhere, rowing with one oar i.e. going round in circles  ;D  ;D

Thanks Cando,

It does help to know what doc. is referred to as the post gave the impression of a passenger list which didn't appear as such, certainly not one I'd seen on my travels (no pun intended)!  :)

I now also know I was correct in thinking the original query did involve Clifford but the OP had changed the request with no 'edit' to reflect any error/change or other!
