Only Crawford and Shepherd....

Of Shepherd I have the following address.

Mrs. A. Shepherd
28 Belfort Place
St. Nicholas Road
Gt. Yarmouth

But if I recall correctly, we had already found his mother...

I also received a photo of probably the whole crew, not sure though, because the Operational Records Book states that on certain missions there were different airgunners.

Hello

Crews did vary, but I traced the crew relatives over 20 years ago of my Grandfather's aircraft, who each had an individual photo. Contacting awkward ones required considerable family research of several crew (like Heir Hunters), of Certificates and newspaper Notices.

CWGC didn't say where two were from, but paid searches in Scotland of his deceased parents address, led to several possible Births, so Edinburgh and County newspaper films were searched for Family Death Notices.

Only one of the Notices gave a village name of his family and a lady there, was still in contact with his Sister.

CWGC don't always have the correct place of where the next of kin lived at the time either, for another crew member.

Regarding another Aircrew, CWGC were supplied with documentary evidence:- Death Certificate, RAF Operations Record Book and RAF D.R. Orders re Funeral and Parish Burial Register and Cemetery Book, images, but CWGC made his Death even more obscure and dying elsewhere.

Adults alive in WW 2, are few.

AIR 81 RAF Casualty Branch Files released to date usually give Places and Dates of Birth.
