Missing in 1841 Census 2 - the sequel
« on: Wednesday 04 July 18 11:41 BST (UK) »
Well, this is loopily-annoying. I am trying to trace John Gale, b1775, Whitby d1864, Atwick.

He married Eleanor Mason in Lancaster, 1798; the baptisms of their children are:
Isaac John Gale, 1799 Lancaster
George Mason Gale, 1801 Lancaster
Thomas Duck Gale, 1803 Lancaster
Richard Oliver Gale, 1805 Whitby

Eleanor died in 1808, and was buried in Sculcoates, Hull.

Isaac's marriage and childrens baptisms are all in Hull
George's ditto are in Hull until 1835 when he moves to Atwick
Thomas's  ditto are in Hull - he dies there in 1874
Richard's ditto are in Hull, and he is there till at least the 1851 census

All very mundane and routine. In 1851 and 1861 census John Gale has moved to Atwick; he was buried there in 1864.

But I can't find his 1841 census entry. He's not with any of his sons on their 1841 census forms (indeed, hunting John is why I was tracing all his offspring)
