Thank you MB.  Those finds do fit in with Ernest’s notes.  He mentions a sister who died around 1909, which would fit with Elizabeth May (Lizzie).

He has a 3year Old girl called Emma, who died in 1885, which fits with what you found.

My notes mention another boy, (not William) who was born on 1st May of an unknown year and died in an unknown year.

It’s great to see so much of what Ernest wrote match up with what you’ve found.   Ernest said he could not trace many of these relatives. He only had this information from his mother, who had moved to London years earlier and didn’t speak much about her family.
Thank you for your help. 🙋🏻‍♀️
I will go and print off lots of snippets of newspapers now. ☺️

Louisa Maud

I have her year of death as 1899. She was only 51/52.  Ernest reports she looked much older than her years. He saw her as a toddler, but couldn’t remember much. He has photos of her in 1959.

I have all the details for her death certificate.  I will order it soon and if it contains anything particularly interesting I will post an update here ☺️

Well the wife is mentioned in a roundabout way (common for the time)

On the 25th inst., at North Crescent, in this town, ths wife of Mr Thomas Thomas tailor, of a daughter
29 October 1886

[presumably Emma Roslina]

No mention of her when he dies

24 August 1898
On the 19th inst., at North Gate, in this town, Mr Thomas Thomas, tailor, aged 58 years.

The 14 Aug 1898 was a Sunday, whereas the 19 Aug was a Friday.  Looks like the 14th you have in the notes was a mistranscription and 19th matches the day you have.
Perrins - Manchester and Staffs
Honan - Manchester and Ireland
Hogg - Manchester 19 cent
Anderson - Newcastle mid 19 cent
Boullen - London then Carlisle then Manchester
Comer - Manchester and Galway

Well spotted Alpinecottage, thank you. I’ll order the death certificates soon. It will be interesting to see if his missing leg is mentioned.
