Parentage of George COWARD

Hi,

Looking for the parents of George Coward who was born in Wincanton, Somerset c 1816

I cannot find him in the 1841 census but he was probably married by then to a Sarah. Either Sarah BAKER in Bath 1841 or Sarah LANE in 1834 Taunton.

Be very grateful if someone could help here.

First the wife was Sarah Lane at Taunton(births of children on new GRO index give mother Lane).
Secondly for his parents I'm struggling .His marriage in 1855 is no help as it lokks like not known for father.
But of I had to guess.
George Coward married Gertrude Day at Winconton 19.6.1815.their first child was baptised at Wincanton in 1820.William 25.6.1820 but on 16th July he is also baptised at Mere Wilts so the family are moving between the two areas which George was in.

Got it!  George Day s of George and Gertrude at Wincanton 3 Dec 1815 labourer.In the margin Coward with a ? added by the Vicar.

Thank you very much for that. Presumably the vicar married them in the June and had to make his mark over the fact the child was conceived before the marriage.
