The 1891 census shows them with four children and four servants living at Apsey House, Avon Land, Batheaston, Bath, Somerset.  Two of the children are Ronald and Lionel.

Registration district   Bath
Archive reference   RG12
Piece number   1940
Folio   42
Page   12

The 1901 census shows mum and dad in the same place with their daughters, now three, but no sons.  I'll see if I can find the sons anywhere in 1901.

Not so far been able to trace them in the 1911 census nor can I find any record of them travelling to South Africa.

Do you have a date for their arrival in South Africa?

What information are you looking for?

thanks for responding - I have no information on travel dates. Lieutenant Ronald Maskelyne Smith recovered from his wounds he was promoted to Temporary Captain and given the vital task of organizing porter transport in Northern Rhodesia, for which he was later awarded a Military Order of The British Empire. Lionel Maskelyne Smith was one of the founder with Jim Kitchen, P.K. Hobson and Joe Thatcher, of Smith and Kitchen and Thatcher and Hobson, the transport company which eventually became Central African Road Services .

Looking for information on Patricia Ogilvy who married my great grand father Ronald Maskelyne Smith and after his passing returned to the United Kingdom.  Patricia family would have more information and pictures and diaries of Ronald and Lionel Smith lives.
