John Irwin Thoms

John Irwin Thoms lived in Melbourne from at least 1876 (when his son Herbert Thoms was born) until his death in 1897. John was married to Elizabeth Mary Wilson who died in Melbourne in 1903, aged 52. Does anyone know if John and Elizabeth were born in England, and when?

This should give fathers name, age, place of birth, occupation, age when married, any other siblings as well as mothers name and age and place of birth.

WA death certificates from 1896 state place of birth (if known), and according to the index, his place of birth is "Prstnps Sc", but I'm not really sure what that is! Perhaps somewhere in Scotland?

There is an appearance of John Irwin THOMS in March 1870 when he was charged on a summons with false pretenses (the case was dismissed)

Did John Irwin THOMS died in gaol.  He is listed on a convicts database in WA with his death date, occupation baker - records held at the State Library of WA.

I did wonder why he was in Western Australia, however his son was married in Perth on 6th April 1897, so I thought he may have just been there for the wedding? (John Irwin THOMS died on 16th May 1897 at Perth.)
