Family trees online have Richard Jones marrying Sarah Brookes-she was a Widow and five years older than him. Marriage 5/8/1789 St Giles Camberwell Richard born 1766 Sarah 1761. Sarah's Father James Brookes- Mother Prudence. Hope this helps, but will need checking out well of course.
regards.

The marriage of 1st August 1789 was by license, Richard Jones Esquire, to Sarah Brookes widow.
Witnesses are Anne Jones and William Strange.
ref: ancestry
Could your Richard Jones be refered to as Esquire?
I'll look for the license to see if it has more information

1841 census Richard is 75 and Sarah 80.
Death records 1841 Sarah age 75 and 1847 Richard aged 85.

Possibly some forgetfulness due to age Sarah' age at death 75 is actually Richards in 1841 and Richard in 1847 should be 81 not 85.

The parents of Richard are likely Thomas Jones and Sarah, he was baptized 20 July 1766 at St Peter Chertsey.

Hi again,

I looked at this post again and I’m not sure about the marriage of Richard Jones and Sarah Brookes 1789 in Camberwell. If Sarah Brookes was a widow how can her father be a James Brookes and mother prudence , Brookes could have been her first husbands surname.  Are there other marriages of a Richard Jones to Sarah? The Camberwell marriage fits because 1841 or 1851 census says she was not born in county so maybe in the London area

I would like to get help so that I can trace the right lineage of the family

Moses

This is a long shot.

John Brookes married Sarah Masters at St Sepulchre 2 April 1780 by license.
Sarah was of St Giles Parish!

Sarah Brookes widow was of St Giles when she married Richard Jones again by license.

See if the license for either marriage still exist they may or may not have some clues. I haven't found a death of John Brookes before 1789 that may fit.

Hi amondg,

I can’t find a will for Richard Jones, maybe he had no will or I can’t find one .

The marriage of John Brookes and Sarah Masters looks interesting! Where can I look for a license of a marriage ? It’s very new for me

Is there a baptism for a Sarah Masters in the area ?

I’m still insecure, is this the only marriage for a Richard Jones to a Sarah between 1785-1793 which would fit ?
