Some questions please -

 * When Margaret SLAVIN dies, 1866, does husband Edward marry again? If not, who looks after    her small children?. This might lead to extended family already living in Victoria.

 * Who is the informant for death certificate of Margaret SLAVIN, died 1866.

 * What was cause of death....chronic illness....might not have been able to care for her children?

 * Who is the informant for death certificate of Edward SLAVIN, died 1879?

 * What names do you see for witnesses, marriage record, 1857.....is it Thomas THERRY and Margaret DONNELLY?

Probate file for Edward SLAVIN, died 1879, names children Edward, Mary, Roseanna, Margaret.

 * Edward SLAVIN

 * Mary SLAVIN m. William David PICKERING, 1883
   Mary Ann PICKERING died 1939, VIC.

 * Rosanna SLAVIN  m. (1) James CASBOLT, 1880  (2) Thomas CASBOLT, 1887.
    Rosanna Ellen CASBOLT died 1928, VIC

 * Margaret SLAVIN died 1923, VIC

What happened to son Edward....when / who / where......marriage and death....what do you have?

Hey,

-- I haven't seen a second marriage for Edward Slavin after Margaret's death. His death certificate doesn't mention a second wife, neither does his probate so I'm fairly certain that he didn't remarry. Not sure who looked after his kids when is wife passed, interesting idea to explore though.

-- Charles Fort (neighbour of the deceased) was the informant on Margaret Slavin's death certificate. She died of typhus fever (14 days ill).

-- Edward Slavin Jnr was the informant on his father Edward's death certificate.

-- The witnesses on their 1857 marriage are Thomas Sherry/Therry and Margaret Donnelly. There are a few Donnelly-Slevin marriages in Armagh but nothing that’s helped pinpoint anything further for me yet.

-- Edward Slavin Jnr married Catherine Lawler in 1887 (Edward Slavin Snr's land in Bruthen was transferred to her father Fenton Lawler in 1888). He died in Northam, WA in 1939.

Thanks for helping me out

Hi there all,

My great grandfather was Francis Slavin, who on his marriage and death certificate states that he was born in Melbourne Vic.  From his age on marriage certificate I estimated that he was born +/- 1847.

On his marriage certificate it states his father was Edward Slavin and mother Maria Callaghan.  From his death certificate it states that his father is Edward Slavin and mother Bridget Cahill.

I  have looked for 25 years to find Francis' parents or any siblings, but without success.

My great grandfather marries my great grandmother in 1875 in Wellington NSW, a long way from Melbourne.  No documentation found about Francis other than I have already stated.

I told my mother (nee Slavin) before she died that it was as a good thing that her grandfather was dead because I would have to the kill the bum for being so damn hard  to find.

I am hoping folks out there will have relieve some frustration and give so peace before I too died  ;D.
