If your SD card is an SDXC then there are a few questions on forums from people having problems with windows 8, a new driver may be the answer.

My knowledge is not very great.

it's treated as a USB... too complicated to explain how to fix and too dangerous if you do something wrong in process!!

I'm not recommending that you try it!!

Just Bluetooth them!!

or email them and pick them up on PC!

You haven't a clue as to what you're doing so leave well enough alone!!

 I can`t even find a driver so I`m beginning to agree   ::)
It`s way too complicated for me , even the Sandisk site isn't helpful.
 Thanks for trying to help.

Sometimes the micro-SD cards don't fit well in the adapter used to make them "full size" SD. I have a couple of adapters, and one is flaky. Guess which one I always grab first?

It looks like your PC is an HP one. There ought to be a driver available from HP's website.

If you tell us what model it is, we can look it up and give you a link to the right driver. HP's website is not exactly the most user-friendly. It looks like you are using Windows 8.1. Let us know whether this is right.
Looking at ALSTON in south Ribble area, ALSTEAD and DONBAVAND/DUNBABIN etc. everywhere, HOWCROFT and MARSH in Bolton and Westhoughton, PICKERING in the Whitehaven area.

it is HP Compaq . Windows 8.1.
The card is Sandisk ultra . microSDHC UHS - 1 and the adapter came with that.

I was beginning to wonder if the card adapter would go into a usb adapter, but not even sure about that.

Has the card reader (E: drive on your image) ever worked?
Have you another SD card you know works you can try in the card reader?
What makes you think you need a new driver for it? If there's no errors showing in Device Manager (see under Control Panel) then it's probably installed correctly.
Are you sure the SD card has been inserted into the correct slot?

If you've shown the SD card is OK and think the card reader may have failed then you can get an external SD card reader for a few pounds - some take normal sized SD cards and micro SD cards with an adaptor, while others are made to accept both sizes without the need for an adaptor. Just search for "usb sd card reader".

It's possible the tablet has formatted the card into a format that the PC will not recognise - are you sure they are compatible?
