John Graves born York 1752
« on: Sunday 15 July 18 15:52 BST (UK) »
Hello. I was born in Beverley. I am assisting a gentleman in California. He believes he is descended from John Graves of York, born in late 1752, the first child of Abraham Graves and Mary Kay. He wants proof that this John Graves is the one who fought with the British in the American War of Independence, then defected and married in Massachusetts. I am going to start looking through Muster Rolls at National Archives, but there were 50,000 soldiers! Does anyone have any information about the John born in York, or which Regiment he might have joined. I realise he may have joined The Yorkshire Regiment, but if anyone knows which regiments other York men joined it might well help!
