There is Martha Carter living with the family (John and Sarah Kearley and co.) in Hillingdon in 1841. She is aged 80 (born c. 1761). Could this be Sarah's mother? Is there a christening for a Sarah Carter in about 1801 in Uxbridge or Harefield? Alternatively, she could be the mother of either John or Sarah and had remarried. I'm going to try and find her death certificate in the hopes that one of them signed it and stated their relationship to Martha.

I couldn't find one either! Well that's a dent in my chances of solving the mystery.

The next burial there is Mary Howes (age 56) on 2 September.
And she is registered Sep 1843, Uxbridge, vol 3 page 240

But still no Martha. Sorry. Some death registrations appear to have slipped through the net in those early years.

Damn  only a christening for a Sarah Carter with a mother named Martha in the Uxbridge area could confirm this. Martha said she was from outside of the county.
