Martin Herbert Smith
« on: Monday 16 July 18 05:00 BST (UK) »
Hi, I am trying to find the parents of Martin Herbert Smith. He was born in Birmingham in 21st March 1931. He married Lilly D Hodges in Birmingham about 1955. He died in Birmingham 13 April 1979. His wife whom he divorced from died in the early 2000s. I’m trying to trace a friends family tree for him on his paternal side as he does not have much knowledge of this.
Many thanks in advance!
Andrew

There isn't a Martin H Smith listed on FreeBMD born in Birmingham in 1931 but there is this birth that could fit if the names were reversed   and I see his death was registered as Herbert Martin in 1979

Births Jun Qtr 1931   Herbert M   Smith mmn Scriven    Birmingham S.    6d   22

We aren't allowed to do look ups of the 1939 Register but you should be able to find with him with family as he died so young.

Hello
It looks like his parents are Herbert Smith born 1896 and Ellen born 1903

Other children Joyce E June qtr 1922,Freda Sep 1925,Richard C June 1927 ,Geoffrey S Sep 1932,Arthur James Smith 11.10.1935-Dec qtr 2000,Catherine A Mar 1938,William J Sep qtr  1940
Martin Herbert Smith's death registration June 1979 gives a birth date of 27th.

The parents married Mar qtr 1922 at Birmingham.

At a guess Herbert is the Herbert Benjamin Smith bapt Dec 29th 1896 to Benjamin and Lizzie Smith boat builder at Christ Church Summerfield.
But with a name like Smith you'll need that marriage certificate.

Hi...I am also looking for information on this family, specifically Herbert Smith's b. 1931 mother and her parents.

I understand her name was Ellen Scrivens b. 29 Jul 1903 but have been unable to locate the name of her parents. She was married to Herbert Smith b. 1896 in 1922.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
