McEwan family of Wallasey
« on: Tuesday 17 July 18 19:15 BST (UK) »
I am interested in finding out more information on the McEwan family. They were living at 14 Westminster Road, Wallasey in the late 1940s and early 1950s.

The couple who lived there were James and Ethel McEwan who I think were married in 1917. They had a son born in 1928.

Many thanks

Jay

Thank you both very much.

I am helping a friend with this research. He was adopted and is trying to find out more so obviously the information we have to hand is at present very limited save the name and address of his father in his adoption papers. We went to Wallasey Library several days ago and had a look at the electoral registers and found the McEwan family living at the address I gave in my previous post.

My friend is hoping to make contact with someone related to this family.

Many thanks

Jay

Carol, thank very much indeed for this additional piece of information. I really appreciate it and I know my friend will be thrilled. It’s really difficult for us to find anything more recent so this helps a lot.

In the 1949 electoral register for 14 Westminster Rd., Wallasey

There was listed

James F. McEwan
Ethel McEwan
Colin C. McEwan

Perhaps the register was compiled in 1948 and pub. in 1949

In the 1951 electoral register, at the same address, we have

Ada McEwan
James F. McEwan

Not sure how Ada is related
