William CHADWICK age 47 (wid.) a slater married Susannah SMITH age 37 (widow) May 1896. Her father is listed as William HURST Provisions Dealer.

Makes you wonder if that's him on the 1891,too. I did wonder about the abrupt change in occupation from shoe finisher to slater and also the change of age!

Brilliant find,I take it he may have been William Chadwick fletcher then,I’ll look at the 1891 census I can’t remember who was on it,I’ll look for John Smith’s death record too now I know the time span,thank you

It is puzzling,is that Susanna Chadwick Susanna hurst then?joseph eatwell o have got no idea,maybe o can find them on the 1911 census

She lists her father as William Fletcher SMITH a slater.

Witnesses are William Fletcher SMITH (although it looks as though the SMITH was added later in red ink) and Mary Ann SMITH.
