« on: Thursday 19 July 18 20:26 BST (UK) »
Hello,

Jeremiah FIELD was born first quarter 1843 the son of Ellen FIELD, cannot find father; she was a widow, born Cork, Ireland, according to the 1851 Census HO107/1973/432, p.30.

I cannot retrieve information for him beyond January 1864, when he was released from prison, and I wonder if anyone could help please...........possibility he died in 1870??

Thank you,

Thank you Capetown and Mabel Bagshawe,

Capetown's details in 1881 look exceptionally helpful but, sorry Mabel Bagshawe, death in Alverstoke a non-starter therefore!!

That birth reg seems to lead to a widowed Bridget Field in Cheltenham in 1851
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:SGBQ-H58

and Arthur and Bridget Field family in 1841, including an earlier Jeremiah (probably died 1842)
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M7MH-JKW7

Youngest son in 1841 census?
Birth, June 1841 Cheltenham 11 212
Field, Arthur
mother Brian

So the Q1 1843 Jeremiah registration is probably not the right birth?

A second Arthur too
June 1845 Cheltenham 11 205
Field, Arthur
mother Brien

In fact the first Arthur (age 1) died same quarter in 1842 as the first Jeremiah.

Widowed Ellen Field still in Cheltenham on 1861 census - has acquired another child Catherine bc.1853!

However, the 4 children (including Jeremiah) from 1851 census and Catherine ca.1853 do not appear to have had their births registered - all shown to be born in Cheltenham but no birth entries for any of them as 'Field' in Cheltenham.

From what has been posted already, the Jeremiah with the criminal record was the son of Arthur and Bridget not Ellen (he's shown in 1851 as Jeremy).

So which Jeremiah are you interested in - Ellen's son who appears to disappear after 1851 or Arthur and Bridget's who was a Bootmaker/Shoemaker, had criminal record 1870 and ended up in Guernsey.
