Hi Steve,

Can you tell everyone where you expect them to be? Still in Ireland or over in England?

Thanks

Nell

Hi Nell,

They were all born in Ireland.

I am backtrcking from their UK 1871 cencus at Kirkland,Westmorland. In this cencus they do not say which part of Ireland. My grandfather would visit his mum in Athlone,Ireland during WW1.

Looking at the 1871 census they would not be in England in 1861 as they had a daughter Kate born in 1865 in Ireland, a son Patrick in 1868 in Kendal, Westmorland, England.
So they must have immigrated sometime between 1865-1868 so won't be on the 1861 England census.

Hi tara,

Great minds think alike.

I figured their UK entry was about 1866 and that is why I have asked for a "1861 cencus look up in Athlone,Ireland".

Hope my request was clear enough.

Cheers

My understanding, little though it is, is that there are no surviving census returns for Ireland that old.

They were destroyed at the behest of the Government, I think also the 1881 was destroyed too.

There are no censuses to look at, you have to try a different method.

I would like to see Athlone census for 1861 too as it happens
