 I have been looking at the service records ,  he joined the RFA and was posted to Glasgow.
 Did he go overseas. He was awarded 3 medals.    He was a coalminer .

His service record states he was in France 21.7.15.- 28.2.18. and 15.3.18. - 23.12.18.

He joined as a volunteer for the duration of the war in January 1915.  After training in Glasgow, he served throughout in 45 Battery of 42 Brigade Royal Field Artillery.  Apart from two weeks leave, he was in France throughout to end 1918.  He was demobbed in January 1919.  The brigade war diary is at the National Archives at:

Thank you,  which  page gives that information ?
I can see on page 6935 something about his wife a police enquiry, have you any idea what that would be about. 
Also it seems he didn`t get a pension, is that right.

His service record states he was in France 21.7.15.- 28.2.18. and 15.3.18. - 23.12.18.

 He had a son  born in Mansfield on 2 January 1916, died late 1920 aged 4.  Oh dear, it must have been a hard time for his wife.

The top entry in sheet you are looking at is related to the application by his wife for an increase in separation allowance after the birth of the fourth child in January 1916.  She had to produce the birth certificate.

The rest of the sheet appears to relate to a query started by his wife in Feb 1918 (he was still overseas) related in some way to her home situation.  There is the list of things that the system were asking the police to find out about and some exchanges of correspondence that obviously went on onto another sheet so the outcome is not known!

He didn't receive a pension which was only paid if a man was discharged disabled.  The form in his records entitled "First Award Soldier" confirms he has 20% disablement but says the causes are non-attributable and non-aggressive, ie not the result of service.
