Lanark deaths pre 1897

I am trying to trace the date of my great Grandfathers death pre
1897 He was supposed to have been shot for poaching

Only new this site could not find find way to reply to you Great
Grandad Lindsay was called Matthew, he would have lived in the Motherwell district.
Looking at my Gran father' Marriage record he was dead before Gdad got married
in 1886.
He was suppose to have got shot poaching.
I see Gdad got married in Blantyre

Hi Mary, I can't see a Matthew Lindsay in 1881 census living in either Motherwell or Blantyre, even in 1861 names index there is only one adult Matthew and he's living in Bothwell, age 43 wife Margaret and Children.
What is your grandfather's name? I'll see if I can find him in 1881, hopefully with his family. Do you know his mother's name?

I'm sorry I don't know my Great Grandad's mother name unfortunately he was dead when my Grandfather got married in 1886
Matthew being my Great Grandad was married to a Catherine Cornfield
She went on to marry a W. Sherry.
Perhaps I will be able to find their Marriage Record of Matthew&Catherine

The Matthew Lindsay (age 43) which I found previously has a son Matthew aged 5, but can't be definite about him being the one who married Catherine.
