Martin Kennedy Tuam born 1845 ??
« on: Monday 23 July 18 18:05 BST (UK) »
Does anybody have information on Martin Kennedy, born in Tuam around 1845? I can find little or no information about him. He became an RIC officer later in life and served in Ballinalack, Westmeath.
Many thanks
Gerry

If he was Roman Catholic you could try searching through the Tuam Parish registers on following link.

Many thanks to you all for that information. I know some things about his history after his arrival in Ballinalack. However, it is his background in East Galway (I suspect Tuam) that I am interested in - his siblings etc..
Dathai, the list of James Kennedy's is very interesting. I don't know the geography of that area either, but I can start some research. I think Martin had a brother James as well, and a sister Ellen.
Through DNA matching, I have a relative whose father was in Artane and his ancestry is unknown. I think it was through this link, and I would love to find it.
Many thanks again
Gerry

Baptisms Portumna with parents James Kennedy and Catherine Crosdell

Hello,

You say you think Martin has siblings, James and Ellen. Do you have good evidence for this?
There are these baptisms. Mother’s surname has slight spelling variations.
1832
Ellen  20th March 1832
