Hi,

Looking for a Sarah Chorley born c 1820 Father Matthew Farmer from Eccleston St,Helens information from the MC when Sarah married in 1844 at Rainford Chapel to James Birchall

Yes I had seen that one but her Fathers occupation is different think this one was a coal miner not Farmer ???

Could have changed his job between 1841 & 1844 when Sarah married

Thank you both, seems rather strange to go from farmer to coal miner then back to farming still unsure its the right family unless I can prove otherwise.

better money down Sutton Colliery - but - working in extreme closed space when you are used to being on open fields .....I can see why he went back to farming ... :)

Marriages also at Rainford with father Mathew on Lancsopc have Margaret in 1846 with father Mathew a Farmer.  There is also a marriage in 1837 for a William Chorley whose father Mathew was a Miner.

I would be more concerned if he started off as a Farmer then went down the mines
