Is there anywhere I can research hospitals or old asylums?

You could try www.workhouses.org.uk?
Most (older) hospitals started as infirmaries attached to workhouses, and there is usually info on that site as to what became of them (NHS, Public Institutions, etc)
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Yes.
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.
