Henry Ashbrook and Mary Lumley
« on: Wednesday 25 July 18 15:45 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I'm trying to find the marriage of Henry Ashbrook and Mary Lumley to find out Mary's father's name. I believe they were married in the first quarter of 1844 in St Saviour, York. I want to track down who Mary was.
Thank you,
David

You probably need to purchase the marriage certificate if the information isn't online anywhere.

Have you found them on census after marriage?  Sometimes you get lucky and a mother or father is living with them and you find out that way.

I see that there was a child born around the same time as the marriage:

Henry Ashbrook, mmn Lumley, birth reg Mar qtr 1844 York.

Henry was baptised at St Saviour on 29 February 1844.  Parents: Henry (painter) and Mary, of Bellerby's Buildings, Garden Place.

He may be the 15mo old Henry Ashbrook (of Aldwark) buried at St Cuthbert's, York, on 6 May 1845.

Findmypast has a good Yorkshire collection, but it is a work-in-progress and coverage of marriages for St Saviour's, York is currently limited to the date range 1886-1930.
