Dispersed Family From Brighton RD
« on: Friday 27 July 18 10:30 BST (UK) »
Am researching a family with births registered in the Brighton RD between 1909 and 1913.
The family has disappeared from the records (even the 1911 census) and there is some suggestion that they it was broken up an sent to various "Homes".
Is there any route I might follow to understand this situation which happened over a 100 years ago?

The fact that children's births were still being registered in 1913 suggests that they haven't "disappeared" but are simply proving hard to find? ;D

www.childrenshomes.org.uk will have some info re those homes in Sussex.
But I think you will find information difficult to come by, as these records tend to be locked?

Any surviving records are likely to be in either the East Sussex Record Office (at Falmer), or possibly at the West Sussex Record Office (in Chichester).
They are unlikely to be online.

If you would like to post some birth details maybe we could find some information e.g. do you know if they married/died had children??

Thank you for the replies to my query.
At the moment I am not able to release the names related to it.
What I have done is to order the birth certificate for the 1913 birth. Hopefully this could ease the "Log Jam"
