I think what's confusing me is that I thought there would be a church in most towns.

Sorry I'm really ignorant with Irish genealogy my Irish ancestors are all from Dublin and it's so different. What is a townland.

No problem....am same myself with non Irish stuff.

A townland can be a field out in country or a few fields....   ;D ;D  not near a town!

I've used the NLI ones earlier but it doesn't give a clue to the name of the church.

I'm helping a friend who has mostly Irish ancestors and I've found such a difference in what records are still around but what throws me is all the different spellings for the same place. I'll have to learn Gaelic it would be a lot easier. LOL


If you  need any help anytime just let me know I'm pretty much au fait with genealogy in a few countries.

You are making things difficult for yourself!!

Go to https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp

and just put Surname in

and Nenagh   as district  then hit Search!!

On left you can select 1800's and even Decades or Births etc
