Joseph F. Gunn and Marjorie Gunn - obituaries
« on: Monday 30 July 18 00:53 BST (UK) »
I am looking for obituaries of Joseph Francis Gunn [born 1904 in Iowa and died 12 January 1979 in San Francisco] and Marjorie Hobson Gunn [born 1902 in Fresno, Californa and died 25 November 1954 in Sonoma County, California].  Marjorie might have been called Marjorie Hobson Logan or maybe Marjorie Logan Gunn [I am very confused about her marital history and hope obituaries might clarify the situation].

Find a grave for Joseph Francis Gunn, states he was husband of Marjorie Hobson, son in law of Florence Dusy/Dusey Hobson, and father of Marjorie Gunn Logan (Donald)

Yeah, I know that's what Find-a-Grave says and that's the problem.  I have John Thomas Logan married to Marjorie.  They lived in Fresno and can be found there on the 1930 and 1940 censuses.  They had two sons Erwin Sanford Logan [1925] and Donald Wayne Logan [1926] whose birth registrations give their mother's surname as Hobson.

In 1940, Joseph Francis Gunn was single and living in New Mexico, working as a civil engineer for the Park Service.  I am at a loss to see how Joseph Francis Gunn and Marjorie Hobson could be the parents of a daughter who married Donald Logan.  I am guessing that Marjorie must have married Gunn after John T. Logan died in 1952 and then she herself died shortly thereafter in 1954.

Thanks, RJ.  That was the confirmation I needed.  Somebody went way off track at Find-a-Grave.
