Hi Georger & Dawnsh,

Georger, a very warm welcome to RootsChat! Apologies for my tardy reply, have been offline with some computer problems, hopefully all fixed now!

Was it this thread? http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=661301.msg5075477#msg5075477

I would be interested to know what details/info you may have if any. I would be more than happy to share what info I have.

Dawnsh, many thanks for the PM, much appreciated. Been offline with computer problems as mentioned above, as already said, hopefully all fixed now!

Kind regards

David

Hi Georger,

Well, this is slightly embarrassing! Until I saw your reply today, I had no idea of Amelia's existence! It seems that I have been slightly remiss in not checking for further births after the 1911 census, for your nan's 2nd marriage to George Mason. Very remiss of me indeed! I am usually more thorough than that! ;D

Your great uncle Harry Warburton was born on 2nd December 1898 in Salford, Lancs & died on 21st March 1918, in France aged 19 years. His parents were Fred Warburton (1868-1904) & Sarah Jane Taylor (1869/70-1934?,Your nan.)

Here is a link to a previous thread regarding Harry's service record, which I have: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=646702.0, at the bottom of page two is my transcription of the entry in the War Diary for his battalion on the day he died.

Harry was awarded the British War & Victory medals. Link here to his CWGC entry: https://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/775939/warburton,-harry/

Of your nan's two marriages I am aware of five children (including Harry) from the 1st & now three from the second marriage including your mother. Having had a quick look on freebmd I see that Amelia was born in 1913 in the Durham registration district (covers Brandon Colliery where they lived). Have I got the right birth?

Harry's father Fred was the brother of my great grandmother Hester Elizabeth Warburton (1876-1958).

I have quite a bit more as regards a couple of Harry's siblings & a little more as regards his military service. Don't hesitate to ask if you would like further info.

Kind regards

David
