Who did his marriage name as his father
I've only just sent off for his marriage cert today , so i await its findings ......

I see he was in Newcastle under Lyme when he married in 1921 and according to 1939 free search  there then (not Madeley as per your post)

If you look at the top of the document it says Middle Madeley on Newcastle Road classed being in Newcastle-under-Lyme . The present family have strong links with this area also

I was looking at the free search, not the document   Your first post gives his address as Madeley, Shropshire which is a different place to Middle Madeley, Staffordshire

Let us know when you get the marriage as that should help to confirm who he is.

George Sargeant married Julia Reeves - December quarter 1889 - Stafford.  StaffordshireBMD says that this was a civil marriage.
