Donald McFarlane Kilninan & Kilmore
« on: Saturday 04 August 18 19:59 BST (UK) »
Hi,

My 5x Great Grandfather was a man named Donald McFarlane, he married Anabella McLean on 04/02/1777 in Kilninian & Kilmore, in Argyll.

Their daughter Flora (born July 1785) is my 4x Great Grandmother. But it is on the baptismal record of Donald & Flora's daughter Effy McFarlane on 10/02/1779 where more info was given ..

'Donald McFarlane Soldier from Baligown (unsure if this is the correct spelling) & Anabell McLean had their lawful Daughter Effy Baptised ...'

I did not previously know that Donald was a Soldier. Can anyone enlighten me as to what Donald would have been a soldier for? Scottish Independence? I have no idea.
