As you believe that William lived to the 1960/70's then you would need to locate his death certificate to try and establish his identity.

This is the first time I have linked them together legally even though they didn't marry.
Sorry to say this but there is always the possibility that the marriage didn't go ahead because William found out he was not the father of the baby Nellie was carrying...

Sorry but even if it did it does not prove it is correct.

My own greatgrandmother was illigetimate and her grandfather is listed as her father on her marriage certificate.
