I have already posted about this topic on the Northumberland link above.

My local newspaper put out an appeal last week on behalf of the volunteers at the Northumbria World War One Commemoration Project who are aiming to display poppies on the entrance gates of all the North Tyneside Cemetery Gates straddling over 2-3 weeks of the Armistice Commemorations 2018.  These cemeteries all have war graves on their grounds.

The volunteers working on this project have done incredible work in creating a database of those who lived in North Tyneside who died serving in the Great War.

Could you knit or crochet  a poppy or two to help out?  They are aiming for 4000 poppies to represent each person who died serving.  They now need a further 2000 poppies to reach their target.  This is a tall order considering all the poppies are required in by the end of this September.  This is why I have decided to reach out beyond the Northumberland board in asking for help.  Even if you can only make one this is one step further to reaching the target.
