Franchise Street, Seedley.
« on: Tuesday 07 August 18 17:14 BST (UK) »
I have spent quite a bit of time on this, but can only be sure that it was off Hankinson Street, off Broad Street, Salford. However, it is not shown on any map that I have, and is not mentioned in Slater's 1911 directorya, and had possibly been renamed or demolished by then. It is shown here on this 1861 census extract. Any help appreciated.

If you use the forward and back arrows shown on the image you can sometimes work out which streets came before and after it.   Spring Vale seems to be the last address shown before Franchise St and Freehold St and Hankinson St after it but is dependant on the enumerators "walk".

At the bottom where it shows the number of pages (40) select page 1 and that gives you the enumerators walk

You can see Franchise Street on the map at https://www.old-maps.co.uk/#/Map/381096/399316/13/100874 Change the zoom with the - in the top left corner. If you keep zooming out you get the modern map.
It looks as if it was renamed Rossall Street by 1908.
