Update.
After searching by Christian name "Adelaide Matilda" & birthdate, and eliminating a heap of them, I've finally found a very likely "Adelaide Matilda Lehan" who migrated to USA in 1864 (according to Indiana, USA census records).
I will do more digging as I've yet to find her immigration record and marriage to Welsh born Timothy Lehan.
Following children's names, from USA census records, I learned that Adelaide Matilda Lehan's maiden name was Stokes. Pretty close to Stock.
Adelaide & Timothy's first born Patrick J Lehan was born in Indiana, USA in 1869.
Again thank you for all the ideas that helped me with this query.

This could be them on the 1870 census in the United States

Timothy Lehan         22   Wales (Working in a Rolling Mill)
Adelia Lehan              19   Wales (Keeping House)
Patrick Lehan               1   Indiana, United States

Wonder how often Adelaide get shortened to Adelia?

In the 1880 Census on Familysearch, this lady says she is born in England.

Rolling Mill ='s some type of Iron, Steel or Tin Plate industry
Wemyss/Crombie/Laing/Blyth (West Wemyss)
Givens/Normand (Dysart)
Clark/Lister (Dysart)
Wilkinson/Simson (Kettle or Kettlehill)

This isn't good - the death of Timothy Lehan (husband of Adaline Stokes) and his brother in law Richard (Dick) Stokes 1889

https://newspapers.library.in.gov/cgi-bin/indiana?a=d&d=DN18890930.1.1&srpos=1&e=-------en-20--1--txt-txIN-timothy+lehan------

Timothy Lehan was born in Ireland in 1844 but raised in Wales.

Richard Stokes mother lives in Danville in Pennsylvania (So if we check there for a Sarah Stokes we might solve where the whole family disappered to)

Clark/Lister (Dysart)

Brilliant Whiteout!
I'd found a November 1889 article from the same newspaper stating Adelaide & brother Harry (aka Henry) were suing the Railroad for the deaths of Timothy & Richard. Didn't find the descriptive article you forwarded, though.
I found a possible County of Vigo, Indiana marriage for Richard Stock and Eliza Roberts (might she aka Hannah?) The children of these two match names giving in the 1889 newspaper report.
I agree the Lehman 1870 USA census, must be Adelaide ( quite a few different spellings) nee Stock.
Once again I'm very grateful for your research, Whiteout.
Thanks,
Valsgirl.

1870 United States Census

James Butler      36   Ireland
Ann Butler      34   Wales
Henry Stock      16   Wales
Richard Stock      14   Wales
Catharine Butler      7   Pennsylvania
Lawrence Butler      4      Pennsylvania
Agnes Butler      2   Pennsylvania.

This entry is a possible for Richard Stock as the Census record is set in Mahoning, Danville Borough, Ward 1. Pennsyvania. Who the Butlers are or how they fit in I don't know?

That 1870 record is on my "possible list". I found a UK marriage for Ann John & James Butler. Adelaides's sister Emma's (my line) sister in law married into a John family, which made me think, at the time, it shouldn't be dismissed. Do I want to climb right out onto that branch? Probably not.

I will look closely at Pennsylvania records now, after the 1889 newspaper article clues re the Bridgend, Glamorganshire, Stock family's connection.
Thanks Whiteout.
