Possibly the 2nd Henry could be Henry J Stocks born in Winscombe, Somersetshire? Perhaps Sarah Stocks went to vist her family and he was registered over there??  Or did they just not register him at the GRO to save money?

STOCK, HENRY  JOHN     COTTLE
GRO Reference: 1856  M Quarter in AXBRIDGE

Source Family search
Then you have Henry John Stocks born Winscombe in 1856 living in Pontypridd he dies in 1939
He has a daughter Sarah A Stock <--his death certificate could be interesting if his parents and John Stocks and Sarah (Currell/Carrol/Carral/Cottle??) He also seems to have married twice on family search, once to Kezia LISLE (1878) and then to a Mary DAVIES (1911) - who had children already)

Wemyss/Crombie/Laing/Blyth (West Wemyss)
Givens/Normand (Dysart)
Clark/Lister (Dysart)
Wilkinson/Simson (Kettle or Kettlehill)

Thank you Amondg & Whiteout,
My latest find is 1851 Glamogan Census where "Adalaid Ettock" parents & sister Sarah Ann are transcribed. Because of birth dates & places I feel this has to be Adelaide Stock & family.

My quest now is finding Adelaide & family post 1861 Census. Searching just by Christian name, Adelaide, and a 5 year birth range is tiresome, but hopefully will bring further rewards.

Looking at the 1851 the enumerator has put a squiggle on the S of Stock, the same 'squiggle is on the S of Somerset (Chew Mang  ::) ) and the first Sarah  ::)

I think this family is quite related to Adelaide (from Familysearch)

John D Stock born 1862 Radstock, Somersetshire married to Charlotte Stock, Children all born Ogmore Vale.  Children: C Edgar Stock, Lizzie Maud Stock, J Milton Stock, Percy Douglas Stock.

John Daniel Stock was registered in Clutton (1863), Somerset and his mothers maiden name was Baker at the GRO.

Radstock is close to Chew Magna and Ogmore Vale is in Bridgend. Or perhaps it is just coincidence??

How can Adelaide Matilda Stock be so hard to find after 1861?

Wonder if the whole family just moved to Australia (Or something??)

Thank you all for your helpful suggestions.
Adelaide's parents, John & Sarah's marriage record tells me John's Dad is William, so it looks likely the Chew Magna record is John's family. The Stock surname seems quite common in Somerset.

It is strange that the last positive record we can all find for Adelaide's family is 1861 census. Knowing Adelaide's sister, Emma, migrated to NZ in 1878, I wondered if the others hopped on a boat, also. After her 1870 marriage, Emma stayed in Bridgend, is recorded on 1871 census, and has four babies (two die in infancy) there. If Emma can leave me a paper trail, why are the rest of her family so jolly inconsiderate! Emma's marriage witnesses were her husband's family, so no clues about the Stock family on that certificate.

I've looked closely at NZ bmd passenger lists and the Papers Past site. Maybe I need to look at Australia & Canada records, too. Considering Adelaide's Stock family is pretty big, I find it hard to believe they'd all migrate together.

I'm very grateful for all the help I've received so far, thanks.
