Annie (Pooley) and her husband should be easily traceable in 1939 - you’ll be able to see whether there are any redacted entries in their household.  Had they had any children by 1939?

Could it be that she was involved in War work ... two people I knew of, I simply couldn't find, and one was "doing war work" for most of the time, may even have been abroad some of the time?
Threlfall (Southport), Isherwood (lancs & Canada), Newbould + Topliss(Derby), Keating & Cummins (Ireland + lancs), Fisher, Strong& Casson (all Cumberland) & Downie & Bowie, Linlithgow area Scotland . Also interested in Leigh& Burrows,(Lancashire) Griffiths (Shropshire & lancs), Leaver (Lancs/Yorks) & Anderson(Cumberland and very elusive)

There are plenty of blacked out people at both the Riley & Pooley households, she could be any one of them.

Actually it looks as though the Pooley couple had a son in Liverpool in 1935 who would account for a redacted entry in 1939.  They also went on to have a daughter in Birmingham in 1940.

Just the one with the Pooleys, I think.

Thank you everyone.

How do I go about releasing the records? I have the death certificate, who do I apply to?

She was involved in war work - ROF in Kirkby (section 8 I think...?) Again, it's on my 'wish list' to find out more about this but I think I'm best starting with the basics as I wouldn't have a clue how to start with that!!!    :D ::)

All of your time on this thread for me is very much appreciated. Thank you.
M

The problem with asking to release trhe record is that you have to know exactly which of the redacted people she is.

If they have a few children ,you have no way of knowing if your nan is the 3rd (for example) of 4th if earlier ones are still at home or not. Research carefully to make sure you know which one she is.

I opened both my mum's records and 2 of my grandparents too.
